Outfits to furnitures - pinks and grays

Today's post is inspired by modern furniture by modani. I have put together a selection of their furniture for my good friend who is expecting a baby girl. I love how grey and pink go together so I decided to show the colors' compatibility through fashion and furniture design. Let me know what you think!

MODANI FURNITURE 

I started with the silver chesterfield sofa from their modern sofas collection, which is now on sale from $1,190 to $990.00. 
Zebra Rug - $540. This amazing faux zebra skin rug will definitely catch your attention when you enter the room.
Nikkia Vase - This vase is now on sale for $5. This ceramic vase adds a color to the room. It will look great on top of the 3 drawer changing station I chose.
Hudson Crib - This 3 in 1 pine wood crib comes with adjustable guardrails! 
It can be used for newborns to toddlers.
Queen of love chair - This is my favorite out in this collection. It is feminine and is perfect fit for my friend since she is having a baby girl. This also comes in multiple colors and can be used indoors and  outdoors!!
Pink Pillow- This pillow matches wonderfully with the grey queen of love chair and the sofa. This costs $25.
Bihar Pillow - This pillow will definitely bring extra dimension to the room set. 


There's a first time for everything - Mezze Game Combat Boots.


Happy Wednesday! It's almost Christmas time and I'm getting excited for everyone in my family to get their presents! I have been busy with new exciting things in life and that's why I haven't posted. One of my followers today has reminded me that I haven't posted and they were right so I put this on quickly and reviewed it. Let me know what you think! 

Vest: I got this best in XS and I think the length is perfect for my height. It's thick enough that it is great for cold weather. This vest is also available in bohemian red, warm bisque and black. Warm bisque is my other favorite color besides this. I happen to get that color also and plan on reviewing it on my next post.

Shirt:  This shirt gets a little itchy so I wear a tank top under it. I like the patch on the elbow because it doesn't get wrinkly when I washed it unlike my other  leather patch from other stores.  This shirt also comes in white but I chose this color because white gets dirtier quickly. 

Shoes: These are my first combat boots ever and they are my favorite! They are comfortable and goes with most of my outfits. I sized down and got a size 6 because I find the 6.5  to be a little too big even though it's the size I usually get.  These are also available in dark grey leather which I also like but  I found it hard to match anything in my closet. I also got these on sale which was a plus. 

Necklace:  These necklace is heavy. I ended up removing it after taking the pictures. The two things I like about this is the shape. It is beautifully done. If you look closely, the stone is purple and it goes great with lighter tops like cream, white or light brown.

Baked Lemon Chicken






Ingredients: Serves 2 
4 Chicken thighs 
olive oil 
9 cloves garlic 
1/3 dry white wine or dry sherry
2 lemons grated (1 tablespoon)
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
salt and pepper
1 lemon

Directions: 
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

1. Warm olive oil in a sauce pan over medium heat. Add garlic. Do not brown the garlic
2. Take off the stove. Add white wine, lemon zest, lemon juice, oregano,thyme, salt and pepper.
3. Place the chicken skin dry up into a baking dish. Pour the sauce over. Add a little bit more olive oil if you want.
4. Liberally salt and pepper the chicken 
5. Cut the lemon in wedges and tuck it among the pieces of chicken.
6. bake it for 40 minutes or until chicken is done.
7. Put it under broiler for 2 minutes to brown the chicken.
8. Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil and allow to rest on the counter for two minutes.
9. Serve with garlic mashed potatoes and rice.








Baked Ziti

This is a great comfort food on a cold day. It's easy to make and great as a weekday meal. This recipe makes about 6 servings. This dish makes excellent leftovers; the pasta really soaks up more of the juice from the meat.  I feel  the same way about chinese food! I always like eating leftover chinese food because I think it has more flavor. Let me know what you think :)












Ingredients:
olive oil
3 cloves garlic
1 medium onion, diced
1 pound ground beef
1 jar of marinara sauce
2 cups fresh diced tomatoes
2 teaspoons italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon red paper flakes
salt and pepper
1 pound ziti (Use corn pasta for Gluten-free option)
2 8ounces fresh mozzarella balls, diced 
1/2 cup grated mozzarella
one 15-ounce tub ricotta cheese 
1/2 cup grated parmesan
2 teaspoon dried parsley 
1 egg

Directions: 
1. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. 
2. Add garlic and onions and saute until onions are translucent. 
3. Add the ground beef and cook until browed. Drain off almost all of the fast. Leave a little bit behind for flavor. 
4. Add fresh tomatoes and let it cook for 10 minutes Add marinara sauce, italian seasoning, red pepper flakes and salt/pepper. 
5. Stir.Bring to simmer for about 20- 30 minutes on low heat. Remove half of the sauce and put it aside to cool down. 
6. Cook ziti until quite al dente. Drain and set aside
7. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. 

8.In a bowl, mix fresh mozzarella balls, ricotta, parmesan, eggs, parsley, salt/pepper. Stir together but do not completely mix. 
9.Pour pasta into the cheese mix bowl. Toss together. Mix in half of the cooled meat sauce. Toss together. Add half of the coated pasta (pasta with sauce and cheese) into a large casserole 
10. Spoon half of the remaining sauce on top. Repeat another layer of coated pasta
11. add the remaining meat sauce and sprinkle the 1/2 cup grated mozzarella on top. 
12. Bake for about 20 -25 minutes. Let is stand for 5 minutes before serving. 


Fall Leaves

All my sweaters are out! The sweater I'm wearing on this picture is one of my least favorite. What is your favorite sweater and why? Comments are suggestions are always welcome!

Shirt- I didn't like this shirt at all. It's very boxy and it sheds!
Necklace: I've had this necklace for two years now. I don't really wear it because it's so heavy! I love the design but I find myself taking it off after 30 minutes. If it wasn't final sale from Lilly Pulitzer, I would have returned it. 
Jeans: I really like these corduroys. They are comfortable and the fit is great. I got the petite size and the length is almost perfect. Perfect for fall and winter!

Mulled Cider By The Fire

Mulled cider is a great drink and it definitely makes me feel like it is fall! So sweet and soo good! My recipe will be on my blog soon! 

Vest:  I got a S petite. This is not a fitted vest but still very stylish. If you're looking for something more comfy, this will be great for you. It is great for outdoor activities like hiking, camping etc. One thing I like about this is that it is PACKABLE! It packs down in a little bag. It is also very light yet warm. It comes in 6 different colors and I am wearing dark cayenne in this picture. 
Boots:  These are my favorite winter boots. They last a long time and it is very warm!

One of the reasons why I would choose L.L Bean over other stores is because L.L Bean has a lifetime guarantee and has awesome customer service, both in stores and on the phone.  Their products last long and are built well. Even though they are a bit more pricey, I think all LL beab products are worth the price. You are getting what you pay for :)

Shrimp and Sausage Gumbo- Gluten Free

This dish is gluten free and super tasty. It is also one of those dishes where you really have to pay attention too. Stir, stir, and stir occasionally! Let me know what you think. Any suggestions are welcome!












Ingredients: 
2 ponds unpeeled fresh shrimp
1 pound smoked sausage or andouille sausage
olive oil
I medium onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, diced
3 celery ribs
3 garlic cloves, crushed
2 bay leaves
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
2 tablespoons hot sauce
1/2 cup chopped green onions for cooking and garnish
2-3 cups hot cooked rice

Directions:
1. Peel Shrimp, reserving shells. Set meet aside
2. Combine shells and chicken broth in a large dutch oven pan.
3.Bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered for 25 minutes. ( This will soak up all the shrimp juice from the shells)
4. Strain shrimp shells. Keeping the liquid broth, set aside and throwing out the shells.
5. Cook sausage in a dutch oven over medium heat until browed. Remove sausage, set aside.
6. Leave the remaining liquid from the sausage in the pan. Add oil to measure 1/2 cup.
7. Add flour into the oil/ sausage juice mixture over low heat. Whisk constantly for about 35-40 minutes. This step is very important. You can easily burn the flour mixture if you do not whisk constantly
8.Whisk until it is brown colored.
9.Stir in onion,green pepper, celery and garlic cloves until vegetables are tender.
10. Stir in broth, bring mixture into a boil.
11. Stir in bay leaves, creole seasoning, thyme, worcestershire sauce and hot sauce. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for about 45-50 minutes.
12. Stir occasionally
13. Stir in shrimp, green onions. Cook for 5 t 7 minutes until shrimp turn pink.
14. Discard bay leaves
15. Serve over hot rice and more green onions for garnish.


Spinach Turkey Meatballs - Gluten Free

I've been experimenting with food lately. I noticed that we only use spinach to make a salad, combine it with eggs or simply saute it.  I was getting tired of making ground turkey meatballs until I thought of adding spinach! Yes, spinach! It's tastier and I fee like I'm not just eating pure meat! This recipe is definitely worth trying! 






Ingredients:
1- 1.25 ground turkey
2 garlic cloves
1/2 onion (large) or 1 medium
1/4 tsp oregano
4 handfuls of fresh spinach or around .5 ounces (this really depends on how much spinach you want on your meatballs)
1/8 tsp Thyme
1 large egg
3 tablespoons of chicken broth (gluten free)
1 tbs Worcestershire
salt and pepper
1/8/ - 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes 
olive oil for sauteing 
around 3/4 cup bread crumbs ( I used gluten free, schar

Directions: 
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
1. Saute garlic and onions in olive oil. Once onions are cooked, put the spinach in and stir.
2. Once the spinach is cooked, put the chicken broth in. Let it cook until there's almost no liquid left in the pot.
3.  When done, let it cool.
4. In a medium bowl, combine ground turkey oregano, thyme,Worcestershire,salt, pepper, red pepper flakes and bread crumbs. Combine well.
5. Combine the spinach mixture into the bowl.
6. Spray oil into a baking dish. 
7. I made about 17 meatballs when I used 1.25 ground turkey. 
8. Bake for 20 minutes then flip. Bake the other side for another 10 or until the middle is cooked.
9. Serve it with over spaghetti and your favorite sauce or  make meatball sandwiches! 

For anyone who is gluten-free, I used brown rice pasta and Barrilla - gluten free pasta. Don't forget to sprinkle some parmigiano-reggiano cheese.

Fall Foliage - Cream Pants and Fall boots

Yesterday was the first day when I actually felt like it is fall. Breeze and more leaves on the ground. Good bye summer and hello boots season.

Shirt: This shirt is from LOFT. It is a size XS regular and if can tell, it is a bit loose and long on me but it is very comfortable. I would have gotten it in petite but it is not available.  If you look closely, the collar is beaded which is a plus to me. I thought that the beaded collar would be enough of accessories but now that I am looking at the pictures, a bright neck necklace like this would make the outfit much better. I give this a 3.5 stars out of 5. I would give it a 4 if I got the petite size.

Pants: Snow pants - Cream pants are awesome in the fall. These corduroys pair are comfy and it fits my legs perfectly. It makes your behind look nice and tight! The length is also perfect for my height. This is a 2 petite from LOFT. I give this a 5 out 5 stars.

Boots: I was contemplating between using my brown or black boots. Brown boot wins! It matches my pants much better. I was also wearing a brown jacket over my shirt which I should have used for this picture. When you click on the link, the boots are darker in person than it is on the website. Darker in a good way. I've had these boots for two years now and I love them. I give these 5 stars.


                         










Baked French Fries

Trying to find a more healthful way to eat fries? BAKED em'








INGREDIENTS:
1 large baking potato (I used russet potato)
1 tablespoon olive oil 
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder 
salt
cooking spray

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit
Cut fries in 1/4-inch-thick matchsticks
Spray cooking spray on a baking pan
combine olive oil, paprika, garlic powder and salt in a bowl. Coat the fries well with oil and spice mixture. 
Spread fries into the sprayed pan (Make sure they are not too close together. Use a second baking pan if necessary)
Bake fries for 30 minutes then flip them. Bake it for another 15 or until it is golden brown and crisp
Season fries with more salt (optional)

If using as a side dish,  this serves 1-2
